Terms of Service (English reference): Gift Exchange

This English version is provided for reference only. The Chinese version governs.

5-5. Gift Exchange

  1. Service: Growish Gift Exchange (growish.app/gift) lets users create gift exchanges, invite others to join, add wishes, draw who gives to whom, and send gifts. Joining an exchange requires signing in to the Platform; a first-time member creates a Platform account, and their wishes are saved as plants in their goods meadow and stay in their account after the exchange ends. The host sets the event's region, currency and time zone when creating it. Deadlines, the draw, the exchange day and the reveal all follow the event's time zone; wishes and budgets are shown in the event's currency, and the Platform does not convert currencies. If a member's account isn't linked to LINE and doesn't have app notifications turned on, the Platform may send the exchange's notifications (draw results, pairing changes, deadline and exchange-day reminders, the reveal and the end of the exchange) to the email address provided by Google or Apple when the member signed in (including Apple's private relay address), up to 6 emails per member per exchange. Members can stop them at any time with the unsubscribe link in the email or in Settings → Notifications.
  2. Draw and pairings: The draw is made at random by the system, never assigns a member to themselves, and respects the exclusions set by the host; the host may also set the pairings manually. In a "Secret Santa" exchange, only the giver knows their recipient before the exchange day (the host cannot see it either), and in the exchange meadow other members can only see the shape and position of each wish plant; on the exchange day the host may open a guessing round in which each recipient guesses who their Santa is; in a "mystery match" exchange, no member (including the giver and the host) can tell who the recipient is before the reveal, and the giver can only see the wishes that recipient added to the exchange; on the exchange day the host may open a guessing round in which each giver guesses who their recipient is. In both kinds of exchange, guesses are disclosed when the host reveals, and the member with the most correct guesses is named "Top Detective" (ties share it; no award if nobody guesses correctly); in an "open pairings" exchange, all members can see the pairings after the draw. In a mystery match exchange, the host cannot set the pairings manually.
  3. Gifts you prepare yourself: Gifts that members buy, prepare and hand over themselves at the gathering (including "devil gifts") are the members' own responsibility as to content, quality and delivery. The Platform is not involved and bears no seller's or other liability. Devil gifts must be harmlessly absurd: nothing dangerous, vulgar, used and worn close to the body, expired or homemade food, or anything aimed at someone's body, looks, religion, politics or private life. The Platform may close an exchange or suspend accounts based on reports. If the host enables "hint and guess", a giver may, once their gift is ready, add a hint (initials in Zhuyin or Latin letters, or a riddle) and the gift's name. Hints are visible to all members of the exchange before the reveal; the gift's name is disclosed at the reveal. Each member may submit one guess per gift and leave comments; guesses become visible to all members when the host opens the guessing round or reveals. Whether a guess is correct is decided by the giver (a guess identical to the gift's name is accepted automatically; the host may change a decision after the reveal). The member with the most correct guesses is named "Top Guesser" (ties share it; no award if nobody guesses correctly or fewer than three members drew). Hints, guesses and decisions are for play only and do not affect purchase review, fees or voting eligibility.
  4. Buy and deliver: Buy-and-deliver options (including paste-a-link purchases) are offered only when the event's region is the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the recipient's delivery address is in Taiwan. For events outside Taiwan, or recipients who state that their delivery address is outside Taiwan, members prepare and hand over gifts themselves (Clause 3 applies). Applies to Taiwan events only. When a member has the Platform buy a gift and deliver it to the member they drew, these Terms on buying gifts apply (including offer and acceptance, the seven-day right of withdrawal, refunds and invoices). For exchanges whose exchange day is on or before December 31, 2026, each member gets one order per exchange with no handling fee, and service fees follow the standard rate; later exchanges follow the standard rates. In Secret Santa exchanges, purchases are always anonymous; delivery details are used by the Platform only to fulfill the order, and the giver cannot see the recipient's delivery details. In mystery match exchanges, purchases are also always anonymous, and before the reveal the giver cannot tell from the order who the recipient is (the Platform still knows both in order to fulfill it).
  5. Host: The host may change the exchange settings, push back dates, nudge members, run the draw or set pairings, hand over the host role, remove members (before the draw), or cancel the exchange; an exchange that has an active purchase order cannot simply be cancelled. If the host deletes their account, the earliest-joined remaining member becomes the host.
  6. Paste a link, we buy it: Paste-a-link purchases are available only when the event's region is the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the recipient's delivery address is in Taiwan (Clause 4). Applies to Taiwan events only. A member may paste a product link for the member they drew (including devil gifts and surprise gifts outside the wish list) and ask the Platform to buy it and deliver it directly. These Terms on buying gifts apply (including offer and acceptance, the seven-day right of withdrawal exercised by the giver, and refunds and invoices issued to the giver); surprise gifts and wish purchases together are limited to one order per member per exchange. The Platform reviews each request by hand during the confirmation period and will decline and fully refund it if: the item is secondhand, used or opened; the food is expired, homemade or alcoholic; the item is dangerous; the item is gross, adult or vulgar; the item targets someone's body, looks, religion, politics or fears; the item is fresh or frozen food, medicine, alcohol or tobacco, or a regulated or licensed product; the store cannot ship to the chosen address; or the parcel exceeds standard home delivery size (length + width + height over 150 cm). A devil gift bought this way is the product the giver chose; being "useless" or "funny" is not a defect. For exchanges whose exchange day is on or before December 31, 2026, each member may buy one devil gift this way per exchange for a flat fee of NT$49 (small-parcel shipping included, no service fee), and the product must cost at least NT$50; surprise gifts follow the offer in the previous clause. If the store's shipping exceeds NT$60, the Platform may present an adjusted total to the giver, and the order is placed only after the giver agrees and pays the difference.
  7. Reveal, votes and awards: From the exchange day, once the host taps Reveal, all members can see who gave to whom and the gift names (for purchased gifts, the shareable name entered by the giver; for gifts prepared by the giver, the name the giver entered). If the exchange has not been revealed 30 days after the exchange day (including a postponed exchange day), the system ends the exchange and makes the pairings public, without a vote. After the reveal, members may vote for each award during the period set by the host (1 hour, 24 hours or 3 days): one vote per member per award, not for a gift they gave themselves; the gift with the most votes, and at least 2, wins, and ties share the award. Votes are not made public; the Platform keeps only each gift's vote count and whether each member has voted. Givers may keep their gift out of the awards, and recipients may hide their name on share cards. A giver who wins receives 3 petals per award (task petals under Section 3-4, subject to its caps). Devil-group awards are titles for the devil gift the giver deliberately prepared, not a judgment of the recipient or of the gift's quality. Each gift's hint, members' guesses and whether they were correct are also disclosed at the reveal.
  8. Exchange records and share cards: After the exchange ends, its name, date, members (by their nicknames at the time), the revealed pairings, awards, vote counts and statistics are kept as a memento in each member's "My exchanges", visible only to those who were members when it ended. A member may remove themselves from the record at any time; they are then shown as "Former member", and this cannot be undone. Recap and award cards are generated as images on the user's device only when they tap Share; when shared inside LINE and a link is needed, the image is stored on the Platform for 30 days and anyone with the link can view it. From when the host starts the reveal or from the exchange day (whichever comes first) until 30 days after the exchange day (including a postponed one), members may upload photos from the get-together (up to 9 per member and 100 per exchange). They are visible only to members of that exchange and never public, and are not shown in the feed or on profiles. Uploaders must make sure the other people in a photo agree; any member in a photo may ask to remove it, and it is then hidden from all members. Uploaders may delete their own photos and the host may delete any photo in the exchange. The "Our group photo" recap card can be shared only by the host and that photo's uploader, or by all members once the host allows it. A member who removes themselves from the record also has the photos they uploaded deleted. The rules in section 5-1 on copyright, licence, reports and takedowns for photos apply to these photos.
  9. Language: An English reference translation of these Terms and the Privacy Policy is provided. In case of any discrepancy, the Chinese version prevails. Content entered by members (event names, wish names, notes, etc.) is shown as entered and is not translated by the Platform.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Unless Taiwan's Consumer Protection Act provides otherwise, the Taiwan Taipei District Court is the court of first instance for any dispute arising from these Terms (this also applies to events whose region is outside Taiwan).

Only the Gift Exchange sections are translated so far. For everything else, the Chinese version applies: Full Terms of Service (Chinese)
